The Bureau of Reclamation will host a community celebration event on Saturday, September 27, 2014 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of power generation at Glen Canyon Dam. The public is invited to attend the event being held at the dam.
Our C.A.S.T. for Kids event at Strawberry Reservoir in Utah started bright and early on Saturday, 8/9/14! This annual event gives kids and teens with special needs the opportunity to enjoy a day of fishing, learning and enjoying the great outdoors.
The Strawberry Valley Project comprises about 45,000 irrigable acres centered around Spanish Fork, Utah. This project provided the first large-scale transmountain diversion from the Colorado River Basin to the Bonneville Basin. It also was one of the earliest Reclamation projects to develop hydroelectric energy. http://on.doi.gov/18JPhyR
Hyrum Dam and Reservoir are located in Utah on the Little Bear River just south of Hyrum City. The dam is a rolled earth and rockfill structure.The construction period was 1934 to 1935. For more information: http://on.doi.gov/18VkIXz
As we remember JFK today, we are also reminded of the number of milestone events he participated in with the Bureau of Reclamation during his term in office. This video includes his very amusing ad-lib remarks at the event on September 27, 1963, in Salt Lake City which started the first generator at Flaming Gorge Dam.
